75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
Minnesota's State Capitol is one of the Midwest's most spectacular buildings. Inspired by the White City, a ground-breaking Italian Renaissance-styled exhibit at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, architect Cass Gilbert was determined to build a state capitol building constructed in the classical style, but with all the modern conveniences of the time. The stunning result is a towering white marble dome, fluted columns, graceful arches and commanding statuary.
The Capital Building tours is run by the Capital Historic Site Program.
