Reduced Fares
Please tell the bus driver before you pay your fare if you qualify for a fare listed below.
On rail, be ready to show Transit Police you qualify for the reduced fare.
These fares apply only during non-rush hours:
Seniors (65+): To qualify, show a Minnesota driver's license/state ID with a "T" endorsement.
Youth: Ages 6-12 qualify for a reduced fare.
Medicare card holders: to qualify, show Medicare card along with photo ID.
These fares are in effect at all times:
Persons with Disabilities: To qualify, show your Metro Mobility card or transfer, Metro Transit temporary ID with a photo ID or Minnesota driver's license/state ID with an "A" or "L" endorsement. For information on certification, call Customer Relations at 612-373-3333.
Children: Ages 5 and under ride free (limit 3) when accompanied by a paid fare.
Downtown Zone: The fare for rides within the Minneapolis or St. Paul Downtown Zones is 50 cents at all times. Transfers are not available with Downtown Zone fares.
Young Adults: Students and workers age 13-17 may qualify for a discounted Young Adult Card -- contact your school or employer.
Transfers
Ride all you want for 2-1/2 hours.
If you pay your fare in cash and you need to travel on more than one bus or train to reach your destination, ask the driver for a transfer when you pay your fare. Your transfer is good for unlimited rides in any direction for up to 2-1/2 hours.*
If you have a rail ticket or use a SuperSaver, your transfer is built right in! No paper transfer is needed - simply insert your rail ticket or SuperSaver into the card reader on your next bus.
To transfer from bus to rail using a SuperSaver Stored Value Card, you must ask the bus driver for a rail transfer.
* does not apply to Downtown Zone fares
Note: If you are transferring from a local bus or train to an express bus, you will be asked to pay the applicable express surcharge of either 50 cents or 75 cents. If you are transferring from an express bus operating in non-rush hour periods to an express bus operating in rush hour, the surchage is 25 cents.
